The Healing Power of Jesus: A Journey from Brokenness to Joy
by Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church on April 13th, 2025
The path to true joy and restoration begins with recognizing our need for healing. Like the lame man who initially asked only for money, we often settle for temporary fixes to our deepest problems. We ignore the "leaky refrigerator" issues in our lives – distance growing in relationships, lack of self-discipline, or loss of purpose in our work – as long as things seem to be functioning on the surface. When Someone You Love Dies
by Paul Veerman on April 9th, 2025
“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 Read More
Greatness Redefined
by Paul Veerman on April 6th, 2025
I am continually astonished that God lifts servanthood above other, far more significant achievements. For example, I can’t imagine the President of the United States cleaning toilets in my home. It would surprise me if Elon Musk volunteered to wash my foreign car. I would be shocked if Lebron James volunteered to be my personal trainer. Why would anyone with such a prominent position and esteem do something so menial with someone so insignificant? Read More
The Church: A Preview of Paradise
by Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church on April 6th, 2025
When we think of paradise, our minds often wander to pristine beaches, serene mountain lakes, or quaint small towns. But the Bible paints a different picture. It begins in a garden and culminates in a city – the heavenly Jerusalem, where crowds of people live together in perfect harmony, joy, and the presence of God. Read More

In the vibrant tapestry of Christian faith, few moments are as electrifying as the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. This pivotal event, recorded in the book of Acts, marks a new era in God's relationship with His people and sets the stage for the explosive growth of the early church. Read More
Jars of Clay
by Paul Veerman on March 27th, 2025
When I first read 1 Corinthians 4:7, the meaning was cloudy. Why would anyone put treasure in a clay jar? Clay jars are fragile and can break easily. Once dropped, get a broom, sweep the pieces, and place them in the trash. Clay jars, also known as earthen vessels, were everyday household items in ancient times, used for storing various goods such as water, oil, and grain. No one would dare store expensive perfume or gold coins (treasure) in something ordinary that could be broken apart. Read More
