Why take off on Sunday and Wednesday nights in July?

Rest
  • The month of July is an opportunity for the pastoral and ministry staff to rest and seek renewal from regular ministry life
  • We want to be able to minister out of rest, not out of weariness

Discipleship
  • One of the main responsibilities of the pastoral and ministry staff is “…to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” (Ephesians 4.12)
  • An important component of discipleship is actually ministering to others in the church and in the community
  • The month of July is an opportunity for the members of the church to intentionally minister to one another and people in their neighborhoods. Everyone has gifts, but sometimes members are overlooked, or their gifts are stifled because the pastoral and ministry staff does the work of the ministry. The gifts of hospitality, compassion, leadership, evangelism and others can be pursued during the month of July in an easier way without the demands of a school schedule

Practical concerns
  • The pastoral and ministry staff have been operating at high capacity since August, 2023. We have filled in the gaps in all areas of the life and ministry of the church by taking on additional responsibilities
  • The summer months produce (and allow for) a slower schedule
  • The Sunday evening worship service is the least attended service in the life of the church
  • In past years, the Choir and Orchestra have taken off the month of July

Additional Opportunities
  • Shepherding groups can gather together in their homes
  • Church-wide picnic on July 17
  • Invite people from your neighborhood to your house
