Call to Worship
Hebrews 1:1-3
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,  but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.  He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high...

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

This creed traditionally dates back to the early 2nd century. The word “catholic” means “universal”, meaning the one true church made
up of all believers in Jesus Christ from every tribe, language, people and nation.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.  As it was in the  beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen, Amen

The Gloria Patri’s first line was sung in the church as early as the 2nd century to affirm that God is Triune. The second line was added in the 4th century to emphasize the eternal Deity of Jesus, refuting the Arian heresy that Jesus was not eternally God.

Hymn of Praise
How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Refrain: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: “My God, how great Thou art!”

Come Behold The Wondrous Mystery

Come behold the wondrous mystery In the dawning of the King
He the theme of heaven’s praises Robed in frail humanity
In our longing, in our darkness Now the light of life has come
Look to Christ, who condescended Took on flesh to ransom us

Come behold the wondrous mystery He the perfect Son of Man
In His living, in His suffering Never trace nor stain of sin
See the true and better Adam Come to save the hell-bound man
Christ the great and sure fulfillment Of the law; in Him we stand

Come behold the wondrous mystery Christ the Lord upon the tree
In the stead of ruined sinners Hangs the Lamb in victory
See the price of our redemption See the Father’s plan unfold
Bringing many sons to glory Grace unmeasured, love untold

Come behold the wondrous mystery Slain by death the God of life
But no grave could e’er restrain Him Praise the Lord; He is alive!
What a foretaste of deliverance How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected As we will be when he comes
What a foretaste of deliverance How unwavering our hope
Christ in power resurrected As we will be when he comes

The Invitation to the Lord’s Table: Those who have not yet come to the place in their lives of trusting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord are requested to let the elements pass. Please use this time to read Isaiah 53 (p. 613 in the pew Bible) asking God to show you the glory of his Son, Jesus Christ. If you are unsure about your relationship with Christ, please see a member of the pastoral staff or one of the elders after the service.

Hymn of Preparation
Beneath The Cross Of Jesus

Beneath the cross of Jesus  I fain would take my stand,
The shadow of a mighty Rock  Within a weary land;
A home within the wilderness,  A rest upon the way,
From the burning of the noontide heat,  And the burden of the day.

Upon the cross of Jesus mine eye at times can see
The very dying form of One  Who suffered there for me:
And from my stricken heart with tears Two wonders I confess,
The wonders of redeeming love  And my unworthiness.

I take, O cross, thy shadow  For my abiding-place:
I ask no other sunshine than  The sunshine of his face;
Content to let the world go by,  To know no gain nor loss;
My sinful self my only shame,  My glory, all the cross.

Receiving the Bread and Cup:  For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

He is Lord, He is Lord!
